Yosemite Map -The First Version - Jo Mora Maps 1931

This black and white pictorial map of Yosemite Valley was drawn by artist Jo Mora in 1931. It shows many humorous scenes and shows the activities common at the time in the Valley. Many landmarks are shown in an amusing way. For example, a cloud resting on an easy chair is shown for Clouds Rest. A bishop is straddling the Cathedral Spires. “ Several features on this carte were removed in later versions, such as the Sentinel Hotel, Zoo, and old Big Oak Flat Road. The Carte was originally folded and sold in an envelope.

The Carte is un-mounted in mint condition, never folded stored flat.

This is first version of Yosemite is 22" x 28" printed on flat paper stock.

The Yosemite Valley black and white 1931 map was hand colored by Jo Mora in 1941, by the request of the Curry Company. The original is in the Yosemite Museum. . Several changes were made before at the request of the Curry Company to "so to speak" update the map from it's original 1931 picture of the activities in the pari. It shows the same humorous scenes and shows the activities common at the time in the Valley, this time it was printed smaller than the Black and White maps.

This is the second Variation of Yosemite Valley 15.75 X 20.75 Inches printed on flat paper stock, it is un-mounted and can be rolled for shipping.

Yosemite Map ~The Fourth Variation 1996

In 1996 the Yosemite Association did a print of the Original Yosemite Map hand colored by Jo Mora in 1931. The Yosemite Map by Jo Mora is in the Yosemite Musuem. The original had faded, so the Assocation tried to make it like it was when new.
